Dalrose retreat pergola and alfresco

WELCOME

Located in Stratford, Gippsland, a 2 1/2 hour drive east of Melbourne, Dalrose Retreat is situated on a family-owned, regenerative beef farm that offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The brand new luxury retreat, opened in December 2023 is nestled in a serene, picturesque countryside with fresh air and scenic views that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. We've retained the handcrafted charm of our homestead while adding modern facilities that provide you with the most comfortable, welcoming and relaxing accommodation possible.

We re-invented the original homestead to allow others the opportunity to experience what farm life has to offer. Bring your family, your friends, you can even bring your pet. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Features You Will Love

01

Reconnect with nature and quiet

It's time to step away from everyday life and bask in the beauty of the high country landscape. Our retreat was specially crafted to offer breathtaking views of our 150-year-old oak and red gums, as well as mountains that stretch as far as the eye can see. Set amongst 80 acres of prime farming land means you have the place to yourself -  neighbours are a thing of the past.

03

Small town charm

The Retreat is located just a short 10-minute bike ride from the Stratford township. In town, you'll have access to everything you need, including fantastic coffee and warm country hospitality. Take the opportunity to meet the locals and savor the high quality food and services the area has to offer. You can even purchase the best our local area has to offer straight from the 're-treat store' we have available in the property.

02

What's old is new again

Restoration of the 150-year-old chimneys is complete! The use of handcrafted bricks, redgum from wall studs and beams all salvaged from the homestead have allowed us to preserve the history of Inverbroom while incorporating modern luxury, comfort and style. Look closely and you never know what treasures from the 1800s you'll find.

04

Space and freedom

We've created the retreat to share the sense of space and freedom that comes with farm living. Leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind and enjoy the peacefulness of having no neighbours (other than a few inquisitive catte). The entire retreat is at your disposal, so spread out, unwind, and relax.

Inclusive and accessible.

We are committed to making our retreat welcoming for all members of our community.

Our retreat was constructed to accommodate guests of varying levels of mobility, with the bottom floor and perimeter of our residence being flat and wheelchair accessible. If you have a specific access request or would like further information we would love to hear from you.

Local. Sustainable.

We built this retreat to share our love of farm life with others, to preserve the history of the homestead and celebrate our local community for the amazing produce, products and services it creates and provides.

We reused as much of the original homestead as was physically possible.

Over 7,000 original, handmade bricks were cleaned and stacked ready for re-laying. Hundreds of red-gum timber beams were de-nailed, ripped and re-purposed into cladding, a magnificent table, staircase and benches.
We collect the rainwater from Mother Nature and we promise you'll taste the difference.

We farm the surrounding land using sustainable and regenerative practices.
We are farmers, and we're committed to preserving and improving the land for the future.

Pet friendly.

Pets are welcome at Dalrose Retreat, and the retreat yard is fully fenced. However we are a working farm and do have some rules and requirements. Please read our Pet Friendly Agreement here and contact us directly to have a chat if you would like to bring your four-legged friend or pet to the farm.

Respecting Inverbroom

At Dalrose Farm, we are proud to have restored the original ruins of the homestead, 'Inverbroom' to create a luxurious and comfortable holiday retreat. Our purpose-built 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom, 2 storey luxury farm house is perfect for families and groups looking to relax and unwind.

In 2020, we purchased the farm and set about carefully demolishing the home, gathering and cleaning bricks and saving timber from the wall studs and beams to repurpose into the staircase, dining table and external balcony cladding. We even found some of the original verandah tiles, which are now back on show at the entrance to the home.

The real heroes, though, are the original double-sided chimneys that we were lucky enough to save, and now stand proudly as the founding pillars and unmovable anchors of the property.
